Our Art of Doberman Breeding
I come from the “Old School” of Dobermann breeding—a philosophy rooted in respect for the breed’s total unity.
To me, a true Dobermann must embody excellent morphology, nobility, elegance, and a powerful temperament—qualities essential for protection, family companionship, and working ability.
I do not subscribe to the division between working and conformation lines, nor between European and American bloodlines. These distinctions, if taken to extremes, risk fragmenting the breed and compromising its functional beauty—the harmony between form and purpose. Every part of the Dobermann’s body and mind must serve its intended role. This is the essence of what we call Functional Beauty.Originally from Europe, we have lived in the United States for over 31 years, but our foundation line remains deeply European. Over the decades, we’ve competed and won major titles across Europe, as showcased on our website. One of our proudest moments was winning the FCI World Champion Title in Germany with our red male,
Multi Ch. Keegan vom Ferrolheim – SchH3 – ZTP 1A.
Keegan’s lineage was a beautiful blend—his mother from Germany, his sire from California. He became one of the founding pillars of our bloodline.

The second pillar was Orpheus von Eschenhof – SchH3 – ZTP 1A, a legendary black male and exceptional producer. Both Keegan and Orpheus came into our home at just eight weeks old. We raised, trained, showed, and competed with them ourselves. From these two remarkable Dobermanns, we built a line that now spans 16 generations over 52 years.
To me, an excellent Dobermann is a good dog—regardless of the country he comes from. What matters is structural functional beauty, health, and temperament. I am proud of the Dobermanns we’ve bred and the legacy they represent.
The goal of a dedicated breeder is to unite the best qualities from all lines and produce dogs that elevate the breed’s functional beauty. This is not easy—it requires deep knowledge of global bloodlines, years of experience, unwavering passion, and above all, humility. Because in breeding, as in life, results don’t always come as expected. But when they do, they are worth every effort.
